Greening the barrel roof of a winery

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao in Haro, a winery steeped in tradition and innovation, is located in the ancient wine-growing region of Rioja Alta in the north east of Spain. Apart from its world-renowned exclusive wines, it now has a green roof that is just as exclusive. By using three different ZinCo systems, a perfectly fitting green roof was installed on the barrel roof of the new winery, ranging from flat to steep-pitched, and covering an area of about 2,000 m² and arched up to 35°.

Olea All Suite Hotel on Zakynthos

The Greek island of Zakynthos is characterised by rich vegetation, which enables the Olea All Suite Hotel and its 7,170 m² to blend easily and naturally into the hilly landscape. The reason is that the roofs on all of the individual buildings – an area of about 2,000 m² in total – are greened, row for row. In between the buildings we have 4,000 m² of refreshing pool water and the almost 100-year old olive trees (Lat. Olea europaea), which give this expansive hotel complex its name.

In the midst of the beautiful landscape of the wheat fields of Tierra de Campos in Villamartín de Campos in the Province of Palencia/Spain, the company “Farming Agrícola“ have built a modern and stunning office building with an impressing 800 sqm of green roofs. The design and build of these green roofs have been a technical challenge due to the different slopes, which vary from 4° in the flat areas to 20°, 40°, and 45° in the steeper areas.

Wimbledon Grounds is a mixed-use regeneration masterplan with a high profile residential development. Within the residential area 14.000 sqm of Blue Roofs has been installed. The ZinCo stormwater management system combines the benefits of green roof or transitable areas with an efficient flood prevention tool.

Sustainability Assessment

The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) has been created as an instrument which reliably shows the environmental impact of construction products throughout their complete life cycle and describes their functional and technical properties.

ZinCo GmbH entered the project “Biodiversity Green Roof” in this year’s FOCUS Innovation Award.
Pedestals are perfect for roof walkway and terrace floorings. The reason is that roofs often do not have the load-bearing capacity to carry the weight of the base layer, the bedding material and the flooring, and the material is also awkward to transport and distribute with this design. On the other hand, it is easy to use the well-known ZinCo Elefeet® pedestals that are now being launched on the market in a new and expanded version that includes a rail system. A pedestal-based installation system like this has to be accurate and flexible, which the ZinCo system is thanks to a comprehensive range of accessories. Installation is now quicker and more stable.
